When compressor temps jump or drop within a short time period, we should get an alert that would pinpoint that there is most likely a cable or sensor issue as opposed to a compressor issue. A recent example is Case 1260592. Looking at the temp timeline in TW you can see that the temp went from 82.8 degress at 12:46 to 150.2 at 12:48.
This can happen sometimes and we won't catch it until it happens for a longer period of time. If we could alter when it happens, even if for only a couple of minutes and then goes back to normal, we'd know to drill into it before it becomes a down machine.
